Onboarding
Welcome aboard! Your first few weeks are all about getting set up, meeting the team, and finding your footing. Here's what to expect.
Day 1
- Receive your laptop and hardware
- Set up your email and Slack accounts
- Complete security training
- Meet your onboarding buddy
- Team lunch (virtual or in-person)
Week 1
- Set up your development environment
- Read the Engineering section of this handbook
- Shadow a teammate on their current work
- Attend your squad's standup
- Ship your first PR (a
good-first-issue)
Week 2-4
- Complete all compliance trainings
- Have 1:1s with key stakeholders
- Take ownership of a small project
- Give feedback on the onboarding process
Your onboarding buddy
Every new hire is paired with an onboarding buddy. They're your go-to person for any questions — no question is too small. Your buddy will:
- Help you navigate tools and processes
- Introduce you to people across the company
- Check in with you weekly for your first month
Tips for success
- Ask questions early and often — everyone expects it and wants to help
- Take notes — you'll encounter a lot of new information
- Don't try to learn everything at once — focus on your immediate work first
- Give feedback — your fresh perspective is valuable
