Onboarding

Welcome aboard! Your first few weeks are all about getting set up, meeting the team, and finding your footing. Here's what to expect.

Day 1

  • Receive your laptop and hardware
  • Set up your email and Slack accounts
  • Complete security training
  • Meet your onboarding buddy
  • Team lunch (virtual or in-person)

Week 1

  • Set up your development environment
  • Read the Engineering section of this handbook
  • Shadow a teammate on their current work
  • Attend your squad's standup
  • Ship your first PR (a good-first-issue)

Week 2-4

  • Complete all compliance trainings
  • Have 1:1s with key stakeholders
  • Take ownership of a small project
  • Give feedback on the onboarding process

Your onboarding buddy

Every new hire is paired with an onboarding buddy. They're your go-to person for any questions — no question is too small. Your buddy will:

  • Help you navigate tools and processes
  • Introduce you to people across the company
  • Check in with you weekly for your first month

Tips for success

  1. Ask questions early and often — everyone expects it and wants to help
  2. Take notes — you'll encounter a lot of new information
  3. Don't try to learn everything at once — focus on your immediate work first
  4. Give feedback — your fresh perspective is valuable
